Well, After wanting to do this for a few years, I finally went and started taking lessons to learn how to fly a weight-shift ultralight- usually called “trikes”. They are basically hang glider wings with a seat and motor. It really was amazing since you are not enclosed in a cockpit. There was the initial “sensory overload” but after a few minutes, it seemed very natural. This should be on every motorcyclists “must do” list even if you only take a demo ride.
The trikes themselves can range in price from about 10,000.00 for a basic one seat up to 50,000.00 for the 2 seat ultra high performance models so the initial cost is really no more that a lot of people spend on their bikes. Of course the bike can just be pulled out of the garage and ridden any time vs. needing to have special storage space (hanger, etc) for the trike. But they seem to complement each other perfectly. My instructor said that most of the trike pilots he knows also ride motorcycles- makes sense.
