We’ve made a lot of progress on the El Tigre/Metralla and I’m now doing the prep for the paint. There are 2 tanks being painted and some fenders, tool boxes, etc. We’ve left all the El Tigre brackets on the frame so it can be either a Metralla or El Tigre in the future. These tanks are NOS but not in great shape. However, the black tank still had all the original decals on it so I was able to get accurate measurements and placement locations. Note, the hand painted pinstripes are not uniform, so somewhere between 1/10″ and 1/8″ is about right. When you see a lot of the restored bikes, it is obvious that the painter did not have the original measurements and was guessing, so I’m posting these up for posterity. Let’s paint theses tanks accurately! I also spent quite a few hours polishing fork legs that I thought were too far gone and they came out very nice.
