We’ve made good progress on the carbon fiber CT70. It is really a laminate since the old metal frame is sandwiched between carbon fiber. Since last post, I’ve applied the decals and 3 more coats of clear. It looks awesome! Next we got some 12 inch rims to fit on aftermarket hubs. The front hub comes with the forks and triple clamps and the rear is designed so you can use a rear disc brake.
Next, the engine (Pitster Pro 190cc) was painted black so it would match the color scheme. The brake kits for these bikes are generally gold and don’t look very good, so they were also sprayed with black caliper paint. The rear swingarm is a very nice part from Kepspeed in England, although we are switching suppliers since replacement parts and spares are not available if you need them. We had to have a bushing made at a machine shop to replace the one missing in the kit which set us back a few days.
Last for this update is some final assembly- we installed the wiring, forks, wheels, and brakes. Next up is handlebars, fenders and lights!
