With most of the mechanical work finished, I’ve turned to the bodywork. This bike has a black frame so it should have yellow and black Kenny Roberts paint and graphics. Several kits are available for the graphics and most of them are pretty good. I ended up painting the black on some of the panels because I didn’t like the way the graphics looked.
We started with the red and white bodywork that came on the bike and stripped it. The bike had been painted multiple times and getting the old paint off is important before laying down the new paint. Next we do any bodywork that is needed and then epoxy prime everything. Then, we are ready for the yellow base coat, black painted stripes and vinyl graphics. The last step is several coats of clear. Here are a few pictures of the progress so far. The final coats of clear will be put on later this week.
