V-Rod Stock Exhaust

V-Rod Stock Exhaust

We are in the final stages of the “restore the V-Rod” project and is is starting to get really fun. Today, we get to install the replacement  exhaust and put the chrome heat shields back on the pipes.  The original mufflers were scratched when the bike fell over- not badly scratched, but enough that they needed to be replaced to make the bike look really good. So I searched around on the internet for some replacement pipes and finally settled on these turn out slash cut tips. Not only do they look great but they sound really good too. The stock mufflers were really quiet and didn’t match the personality of the bike at all. I’m also guessing that they are 20 lbs lighter, but what is 20 pounds on a 700 lb cruiser! At any rate, they simply clamp on under the chrome heat shields for a really simple install. Check out the before and after pictures… Tomorrow, weather permitting, I will get a chance to roll it out and buff out the “tank”.

As you can see, the mufflers or pipes simply clamp on to the stock mid-pipe which contains baffling so even with wide open pipes, it is not too loud.
