Harley.jpgThe York Daily Record has the details Of the President’s visit to the Harley factory later today. Whatever your politics, it is a big event to have the President drop by. Harley is always a good place to visit because they represent a good, profitable company that came back from the brink of bankruptcy to become an iconic brand.

W is coming.

The 43rd president, George W. Bush, is scheduled to arrive at Harley-Davidson, 1425 Eden Road, at 2:20 p.m. today via helicopter Marine One. He will tour the manufacturing facility that makes Harley’s Softail model and participate in a roundtable discussion.

The Softail facility, where 550 people work, opened in late 2003. About 3,200 people work at Harley’s Springettsbury Township plant.

After spending time at Harley, Bush will head to Lancaster County for a 5:30 p.m. fundraiser for Pennsylvania Republican gubernatorial candidate Lynn Swann.

“There’s definitely a lot of buzz and anticipation among employees, particularly among employees who have been here a number of years and have been here for other presidential visits,” Harley spokeswoman Patricia A. Sweeney said.

…U.S. Rep. Todd Platts, R-York County, said he had been lobbying the president to visit Harley for about two weeks because he believes it’s a great company and a good model of how labor and management should work together.
